“In creating mosaic art, I utilize a variety of substrates and many types of tesserae (stained, vitreous, and mirror glass, stone, ceramic tile, marbles, glass gems and blobs, wood, Lego blocks, aluminum cans, millefiori, and everyday items that may add to a project theme.
In creating fused glass projects (i.e. kiln-formed or warm glass), I employ two kilns, each of which provides me with a multitude of firing schedules and thus much latitude in the desired visual outcomes sought. My glass of choice is COE 96, manufactured by Oceanside Glass in Tijuana, Mexico. The materials and accessories available include sheet glass, stringers, noodles, frit (pulverized glass), enamel decals, and glass paint. My favorite designs will have dichroic glass, known for its beautiful and eye-stimulating optic properties.”
