Joplin Arts Fest is happy to welcome textile artist Karen Ames to our 10th Anniversary show at the Cornell Complex. Find her leather bags and jewelry on the Leggett & Platt Green this September 20 & 21.
“I have always had a love for art and creating beauty. The last 8 years I have been working with leather. I recently retired and have been making a really cool project called Design-a-Purse. I sew a bag with leather, line it with cotton fabric, and create different flaps and handles that are interchangeable.This is something new that I want to focus on, as it can be changed with the seasons or outfits. Yet we get to keep all our belongings in the same purse. I also make leather earrings which I have designed and painted.”
